School has started!

It is the second week of school...

Today I encountered arguments, fits, tears, laughter, hugs, and hopefully some learning.

I am tired.

After a nap, some vanilla icing, and TV I'll be ready for it all over again.

How many more days until summer?!?

Skirts, skirts, and 1 more skirt

It's Sunday.
The Sunday after my 1st week of school.
It's raining. The hubs is at the Texans football game in Houston, having man time.
Enya is playing on Pandora and I have coffee, with gobs of whipped cream, in hand.
It's wonderful. And to add to this bliss I get to sew this afternoon. All afternoon.
I love it.

I've been sewing some skirts and have enjoyed it so much.
There is just something about sewing that makes me happy.

Here is the skirt I sewed today:

My mom and Meme got me this pattern with 2 different fabrics.
I have loved exploring this easy pattern.
The only downside of sewing clothes is the sizes.
They are wacky. But I finally figured out my size with this pattern.
The waist is done with elastic. It was super easy to sew!

The hem was hard but I did ok.
My rule with sewing: It doesn't have to be perfect.

Here is the first skirt I made with the same pattern.
I made this the night before school started and ended up wearing it for the first day of school.
I made this skirt big, not knowing my size. I had to rip out everything and take it in 1/2 inch on both sides.
It still seems big but it works.
Elastic waist was easy!

I did not iron this before taking the picture so it's wrinkled a bit.

Here is my very first skirt I ever made.
I picked the pattern myself, not knowing anything other than it said "easy to sew."
Well, it lied.
This sucker was hard but I did it!
It has 2 pockets with pleats, gathers in the front, 2 darts in the back, a waist band with interfacing, and to top it off, a zipper.
I had no idea what I had gotten myself into.
Thank goodness for YouTube and Facetime with Mom.

It turned out good but it is tight. It would be way too hard to rip everything out so I just wear Spanks with it. For a woman, Spanks solve a lot of problems.
I also didn't realize it was a pencil skirt when I picked the pattern.
I never wear pencil skirts... expect now when I wear this one. :)

I have another skirt in progress. It has been my first huge mess up with sewing but after talking to Mom I am going to try and fix it. We will see.

I do love sewing and would love to learn how to quilt.
My skirts are not prefect by any means but I am sure proud of them.

I am now off to read on this beautiful rainy Sunday afternoon.

Oh, happy day!

Let me brag a little bit...

Last Friday, Chad graduated (sort of) from PA school!
He technically doesn't finish until November but that is an awkward time so UTMB lets the students "graduate" in August. Since there was a graduation ceremony, the robe, the pomp and circumstance,
I threw Chad a graduation party.

I am so proud of Chad and the many, many, many hard working hours he has put in to get to this point.
He is going to be an awesome PA.

For the party I went all out and had lots of fun doing it!

We had potato rolls, ham, turkey, veggies, chips and salsa!

I made a red-headed veggie skeleton!
Thanks, Pinterest for the idea!
He still makes me laugh looking at him! :)

We had fruit skewers with some melted chocolate.

I made pretzel thermometers.

And band-aids! ;)

Lots of cotton balls because you always need some good cotton balls, especially covered in chocolate.

I had this picture of Chad blown up and we played put the IV on Chad!
It was a hit!

When everyone came they had to fill our their patient history.
There were pictures of Chad playing doctor when he was little and pictures of him and Memaw.
Memaw was a nurse and inspired Chad to get into medicine.
I know she would be SO proud of him!

Here is the patient history.
Everyone had to put:
Name
Place you first met Chad
Favorite memory of Chad
Advice for Chad

I made them 4X6 so I could put them in a photo album.
They were very fun to read and I am going to love to look back at who came to the party.

Here is the whole spread!

Chad did get spoiled.
Our friends are awesome and got him a drill and a saw!
He is super happy and has been working away on his entertainment center he is building!
He also got lots of money which he loves.
He has been getting things off his longggg wish list.

So proud of Chad Pacanowski, PA-C.

We made it!!! :)

Summer Highlights

Summer is coming to a end :(
We have had a wonderful summer!!!

Here are some of our summer highlights!

We went on a Duck Tour!

Living in Galveston you see Ducks all the time giving tours
but actually going on one was really fun!
We learned more about Galveston and got a "duck hair do."
Quack, quack!

We went to Game Board Island- multiple times.
We love this place.
I mean, look at all the games :)

Celebrated 3 years of marriage at Rudy and Paco's.
It is a super fancy restaurant that we had a gift card too.
Our lunch was over $50 dollars but oh so good.
Our favorite was the banana chips they serve at the beginning- SO good!

Sorry for the bad pic- I was trying to be discreet, acting like I am one of the regulars.

They even had a "crumb scraper." That is my standard for a fancy place- when a waiter will come around to scrap your crumbs from your table. :)
I'm so lucky to be married to this guy!
And you know he ordered fish tacos at this place. lol
Not sure what we will do when we leave G-town and Chad can't get fresh fish tacos.

Went camping at Brazos Bend State park with our friends.
It was so fun and extremely hot! We loved the park which had alligators. Scary.
But Georgia didn't get eaten and I got over my fear of them. Georgia was awesome too!
She is such a good dog- we do love our Georgia-baby!
We will be camping in the fall for sure at Brazos Bend!

Went to the Opera House with the Bonds!
We saw The Addams Family and it was hilarious. We were all laughing.
I was impressed with the show.

Got milkshakes at La King's. This has been on my Galveston bucket list for a while and let me tell you it didn't disappoint. I love milkshakes and these are worth every penny.

We are going kayaking with our friends Sunday evening. I can not wait! I have wanted to kayak for a while now. We also still have gift cards to Schillterbahn and the movies.

What a great summer!
