It's Sunday.
The Sunday after my 1st week of school.
It's raining. The hubs is at the Texans football game in Houston, having man time.
Enya is playing on Pandora and I have coffee, with gobs of whipped cream, in hand.
It's wonderful. And to add to this bliss I get to sew this afternoon. All afternoon.
I love it.
I've been sewing some skirts and have enjoyed it so much.
There is just something about sewing that makes me happy.
Here is the skirt I sewed today:
My mom and Meme got me this pattern with 2 different fabrics.
I have loved exploring this easy pattern.
The only downside of sewing clothes is the sizes.
They are wacky. But I finally figured out my size with this pattern.
The waist is done with elastic. It was super easy to sew!
The hem was hard but I did ok.
My rule with sewing: It doesn't have to be perfect.
Here is the first skirt I made with the same pattern.
I made this the night before school started and ended up wearing it for the first day of school.
I made this skirt big, not knowing my size. I had to rip out everything and take it in 1/2 inch on both sides.
It still seems big but it works.
Elastic waist was easy!
I did not iron this before taking the picture so it's wrinkled a bit.
Here is my very first skirt I ever made.
I picked the pattern myself, not knowing anything other than it said "easy to sew."
Well, it lied.
This sucker was hard but I did it!
It has 2 pockets with pleats, gathers in the front, 2 darts in the back, a waist band with interfacing, and to top it off, a zipper.
I had no idea what I had gotten myself into.
Thank goodness for YouTube and Facetime with Mom.
It turned out good but it is tight. It would be way too hard to rip everything out so I just wear Spanks with it. For a woman, Spanks solve a lot of problems.
I also didn't realize it was a pencil skirt when I picked the pattern.
I never wear pencil skirts... expect now when I wear this one. :)
I have another skirt in progress. It has been my first huge mess up with sewing but after talking to Mom I am going to try and fix it. We will see.
I do love sewing and would love to learn how to quilt.
My skirts are not prefect by any means but I am sure proud of them.
I am now off to read on this beautiful rainy Sunday afternoon.
Oh, happy day!
Hey it sounds like you have been doing alot of sewing. I haven't tried a zipper yet...good job! I love making skirts like that. I think I have four or five. I like to wear them with my shirt tucked in and a belt over the waist line to hid my elastic. Keep up the good work!
